North vs South Kruger
Southern Kruger
The southern section around Skukuza and Lower Sabie is the most popular — and for good reason. It has the highest concentration of predators in the park, excellent rhino sightings, and beautiful riverine bush along the Sabie and Crocodile rivers.
Northern Kruger
The north is wilder and less visited. The landscape transitions to mopane woodland and baobab trees, and you have a better chance of seeing wild dogs, roan antelope, and tsessebe — rare species that prefer this habitat.
Best Time to Visit Kruger
The dry season from May to September is the best time for game viewing. Vegetation is sparse, animals gather at waterholes, and predator sightings are at their peak. June and July offer the best combination of good weather and excellent wildlife concentration.
The wet season from November to April brings lush green scenery, newborn animals, and spectacular birdlife — but thick vegetation makes spotting wildlife more challenging.
